Dear friends and residents of SITIO DE CALAHONDA,

At the Annual General Meeting in March I was re-elected President of the E.U.C. This makes me feel very appreciative that you have once again trusted in my work, I hope I don't disappoint you when carrying out this duty. Having been President these last years, doesn't make me forget the tremendous responsibility this post involves. We are talking about one of the most important urbanizations of Spain, that currently has more than 15.000 neighbours, 5.000 dwellings, 600.000 m2 of green areas and a great extension of kilometres of infrastructures that have to be maintained in perfect condition.

The union of residents, community of owners and those who represent them, the continuous dialogue with same and the transparent transaction are still the most important way of acting of this Board of Directors that I have the honour to Preside.

The union with all the urbanizations of Mijas - defending our interests in common with regard to all the administration states - is now a reality. The Associations of Urbanizations of Community of Owners of Mijas (A.U.U.M.) was established some years ago, being Sitio de Calahonda First Vice-President of the same. At present it is formed by more than thirty urbanizations, representing most of the neighbours of our municipality. The Association has already held meetings with the Major to inform him of our requests. Within these requests we can point out the one that requests for a 20of the Property Tax collection to be re-invested in the urbanization.

There still hasn't been a Court Hearing for the appeal we made against Mijas Town Hall three years ago - as authorised at the Assembly - to the Litigious Administrative Court in Málaga, requesting the services that by law they should carry out. The proceeding takes a long time, but the years of non-fulfilled promises have been even longer, so it's worth waiting for.

Once the infrastructure works of the third phase have been finished, and the urbanization is consolidated, as there are more and more plots being built on in the North area of Sitio de Calahonda, we hope that in about two years time all the works will have finished and therefore we won't have the inconvenience of trucks going through the area.

Sitio de Calahonda has become as an example to take by many of the urbanizations on the Costa del Sol as for maintenance and management. Other urbanizations ask for our help and advice as to administrating and conservation of their urbanizations. At this point, owners and residents are all implicated, as it is up to all of us to keep Sitio de Calahonda clean, looked after and without signs of vandalism in the streets (paintings, broken lampposts …) that also affects all the cities in the world.

We will continue with our Journal to inform all the residents of the current news in our urbanization and other news of general interest. Through our web site on Internet www.calahondaeuc.com we can inform all the owners that aren't here in Sitio de Calahonda. We also have an e-mail address euc@calahondaeuc.com that you can use to contact us from any part of the world -should you not be able to go to our office- and we will clarify any enquiry regarding receipts, projects, … and we will attend your complaints. Likewise we hold informative meetings with the owners who wish to attend and inform and discuss about the most interesting and current matters, answering owners' questions regarding these matters. All new owners can ask for information at our office, as well as any owner.

I'm sure that I have the support of all the members of the Board of Directors, the experience of our Manager -Antonio Aparicio Bustos-, the personnel of the office and the workmen, to carry out my duties. They all put more enthusiasm and effort to their work every day and feel proud of Sitio de Calahonda. Also, we count on legal and technical assessment. But the most important thing is having the support of all the neighbours and all the people that have businesses within the urbanization. Between us and all implicated in what Sitio de Calahonda is today, we will make it possible for this to continue to be a place that's worth living in.
