Dear friends and residents of SITIO DE CALAHONDA,

Conscious of the importance of keeping in contact with owners and residents of Sitio de Calahonda we have modified our web page; also, we are requesting the e-mail addresses of residents so that we can send them information of interest.

The union of residents, of the communities of owners and of those who represent them, the continuous dialogue with them and transparent management, continue to be amongst the most important lines of action of this Board of directors over which I have the honour of presiding. This year we will put special emphasis on the works being carried out in Avd. de España that will result in an improvement in the traffic flow and also in the aesthetics of the urbanisation.

Sitio de Calahonda has become an example for its maintenance and management to many of the urbanisations on the Costa del Sol who ask for our help and advice on the administration and conservation of their urbanisations. We would point out that all owners and residents are involved, since it is everyone’s job to keep Sitio de Calahonda clean and pleasant, and free from examples of street vandalism (graffiti, broken lampposts ...) that plague every city in the world.

We continue to form an active part of the influential Association of Urbanisations of Mijas (AUUM), represented on the Committee in the position of first Vice-President. Joining with other urbanisations in the municipality of Mijas in defence of common interests at all levels, is today a reality. At present the media echo our requests and some goals have been achieved with the provision of certain services by the town hall. It was the persistence of the Association which achieved the creation of Mijas's own fire station.

In the year 2000 our urbanisation brought an action against Mijas Town hall before the Division of Administrative Law in Malaga, requesting the services that is legally obliged to provide. We are still awaiting a judgement. The procedure is very long, already almost nine years have passed, but not it is not as long as the years of unfulfilled promises, of negotiations without result, so it is worth waiting.

From this web page I invite you to register in the municipality of Mijas and express your to vote. We are a very large population and can use our weight of numbers to have a say in the composition of the Mijas Town Council and therefore could have some influence in the policies of the next Council, to the benefit of the urbanisations.

Finally, I thank you for your confidence in my administration, I hope not to disappoint in my performance in this position and to reassure that both I and other members of the Board, will act in the best way for our urbanisation, advised at all times by our technicians, legal advisors and our manager and the office personnel and the services operatives. All of them work with dedication and enthusiasm every day and are as proud of Sitio de Calahonda as the residents. But the most important thing is to have the support, advice and experience of all the neighbours and of all the professional and business people among us. Between us all, and everyone involved in the reality that is today Sitio de Calahonda, we will ensure that it continues being a place where it is worth living.
